Moschopolis 6 2019 - Moschopolis Winery

Varieties: Ασύρτικο, Ξινόμαυρο
Region: Μακεδονία

Leaving the vine to speak for itself and by applying pioneering methods, excellent quality and ideal fruit concentration is ensured. Assyrtiko is grown in the small, dry and full of stones coastal family vineyard. By completely changing the image we have for the Assyrtiko vines, the fruit hangs at a height of 1.8 m for protection from the sun and high temperatures. And because nothing is common about this winery, Xinomavro participates in the blend with blanc de noir vinification giving unexpected complexity and depth. Minimal but crucial intervention, indigenous, wild yeasts and bottling without filtering do the rest. As for 6, it suggests the 6 months spent in second use of French oak barrels.

Moschopolis Winery

The establishment of the Winery was made possible thanks to the efforts of Dr. Georgios Germanis, Chemical Soil Specialist with more than 30 years experience in viticulture and winemaking. Started as a scientific consultant at a large Greek winery for 15 years and then as a research associate at selected wineries, he has left his mark on the rise of Greek viticulture and winemaking.

Through our effort produce quality wines, we also feel the need to retain decades of accumulated knowledge, develop it and pass it on to future generations.

The new generation is made up of three wine enthusiasts. The son of Dr. George Germanis, Theodoros Germanis with Diploma in Electronic Engineering, MBA and with degree in Chemistry, his groom, Dimitrios Paralidis, Diplomatic Agronomist Surveying Engineer, and Aliki Germani-Paralidi, daughter of Dr. George Germanis.

The family tradition of wine, of course, goes back to the old days, with Dr. Theodoros Germanis (1909 - 2004), father of Dr. George Germanis, who was a distinguished Agronomist-Viticulturist, with studies in Montpellier, France, with years of experience and internationally recognized research on indigenous grape varieties.
