Assyrtiko-Viognier Bio 2020 - Konstantara Winery

Producer: Konstantara Wines
Varieties: Viognier, Ασύρτικο
Region: Μακεδονία

A glowing greenish yellow colour with intense golden highlights. A complex and elegant nose expresses the varietal character of French Viognier, as well as the northern Greek Assyrtiko. Expressive aromas of ripe apricot, flowers, and citrus fruit peel, together with tropical fruits and lots of white flowers, making its nose irresistible. The flavours in the mouth follow the aromas of the nose and the aftertaste is intense and long, with sweet spices such as vanilla increasing the complexity, creating the feeling that it will last forever. It is full, creamy, and rich, with an exceptional structure and crisp acidity in the mouth. The barrel’s personality - vanilla, tobacco, and nuts - is beautifully incorporated into the wine, composing a rich bouquet of aromas, while the scent of bread crust indicates contact with the lees. An excellent companion to fresh seafood, such as lobster, crab, or shrimps in a white sauce. It pairs perfectly with Asian cuisine, roast fish with oily flesh, as well as oven roast fish with herbs (rosemary, parsley, or even thyme), chicken and pork in white sauces, grilled vegetables and asparagus. Aged yellow cheeses at the end of a meal.

Konstantara Wines

Konstantara wines are made from grapes that are produced by the owners of our company in their 250-acre vineyards. All grapes are organic and grow at Agia Triada at the hillsides of Polygyros at a 430 meter altitude. This sight is ideal for growing grapes since it needs little to none irrigation. Our variety of white grapes includes Sauvignon blanc and Moschato Alexandreias, while in our new vineyard we are growing Malagousia. Our variety of red grapes includes mostly Merlot but we also grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Agiorgitiko in our vineyards. The vinification is being made in our new and modern family owned winery in Portaria, Halkidiki.
