It is produced from Mavroudi and Agiorgitiko with the distinctive presence of the tannic variety, Refosco (less than 15%). They are vinified separately and mature for 3 months in 225lt oak barrels. This is followed by the blending where Mavroudi is dominating and the maturation in oak barrels continues for 6-9 months.

It has deep violet color and aromas of cherry, strawberry, raspberry and toffee with notes of cinnamon, spices and vanilla from the oak aging. On the palate it has balanced acidity and velvety tannins, with long lasting aftertaste and a spicy feeling.

Drouvas Winery

 

From grandfather Sakis in 1960, to granddaughter Julia today, Drouva Estate, on the slopes of the hills surrounding Pyrgos of Ilia to the north, with its palm-trees, olive trees, various fruit trees, vineyards and barrels of pine, developed into a modern vineyard and winery managed by his son, Spyros and the design, standardization and distribution of wine, the principal product of the estate, was undertaken by the oenologist granddaughter. The varieties cultivated are Greek and are commonly found in the Western Peloponnese with sandy soil, Ionian air and high annual rainfall. Roditis, Fileri, Mavroudi, Agiorgitiko and Refosco, blend to complement each other and produce balanced and light wines, white, red or rosé, fresh or aged, that accompany the pleasant Greek cuisine.
